Was the CBC in the right when they fired Jian Ghomeshi?
Because if not it could cost them $55 million!
The former Q host is standing his ground after the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation fired him following multiple sexual violence allegations.

And not just that – he’s also suing for breach of confidence, bad faith, and defamation!
Ghomeshi insists, as he said in his lengthy public Facebook post, that he is being fired not based on any formal complaints but based on personal information he gave his employers freely.
According to the lawsuit:
“The claim is the result of the CBC misusing personal and confidential information provided to it in confidence and under common interest privilege…
Mr. Ghomeshi would not have shared information about his private life with the CBC, had he appreciated that the CBC would ultimately use the information provided to it to terminate his employment…
Conduct of the CBC has negatively impacted and will continue to impact Mr. Ghomeshi’s public reputation and future employment and other opportunities.”
So does Ghomeshi have a case?
We’re hearing probably not.

As a member of a union working for the CBC, he isn’t even legally allowed to sue for wrongful dismissal.
But the suit may be less about winning in court and more about pushing back against the CBC. We’ll have to see how they respond.
