John Cusack and Matthew Broderick could have been the one who knocks, and we didn’t even know it!
While there has been a rumor that John actually turned down the role of Breaking Bad‘s Walter White, that myth turned out to be as false as Walt’s gambling problem, speculation which John addressed on Twitter:
Didn’t turn it down u crazy “@DJKnoxs: You made a mistake turning down the role of Walter White,Breaking Bad is the best T.V show ever”
— John Cusack (@johncusack) September 29, 2013
In hindsight we bet John would have stood outside of Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan‘s home with some ricin a boombox to try and convince him, but he was never officially offered the part!
John and Matthew were apparently on the list of contenders for the role, with the idea that if they liked the script, the part of W.W. would go to them!
However, when Bryan “The Danger” Cranston’s Pork Pie Hat was thrown in the (drug) ring as a potential, the part was eventually offered to him.
And we are so glad he accepted, especially after everything that went down last night. Who else could have acted that finale so well?
In conclusion, if Heisenberg asks you to say his name, you’re damn right to answer, “Bryan Cranston!”
