Not only has he helped Damien Echols get back on his feet after being released from prison, he uses his time and money to raise awareness on the flaws of the justice system — specifically in the case of the West Memphis Three.

And when Johnny attended TIFF with Damien to watch the premiere of Amy Berg‘s documentary West of Memphis, things got a lil’ exciting!
We’ve already reported on the press conference, but Damien is saying more now, explaining:
“Everybody loves Johnny, so he just thought if he could come and bring more attention to the movie by being there, then that’s what he would do.”
“We sat next to each other and watched the whole thing because he wanted to watch it from beginning to end just to see what the crowd’s reaction was going to be and what parts they reacted to the most. It was pretty amazing.”
“There were people sitting behind us saying, ‘F*** you’ to the screen [when the prosecutors spoke about their belief in the WM3’s guilt in the documentary]. It was just what we were hoping.”
OMG… they’re totally bestiez!! LOVE IT!!!
Now we can only hope their names will be cleared through new DNA evidence… and that the REAL murderer is found!
