Shame on them!
After commentators made homophobic remarks about Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir during his free skate, he will be holding a press conference this afternoon in Vancouver to address the situation.
The Quebec Gay and Lesbian Council is demanding that two French-language broadcasters publicly apologize after making “outrageous” and “homophobic” statements about Johnny saying that he is damaging to figure skating’s image and that he should be made to take a gender test!
Inappropriate!
Also in Australia, Channel Nine has been receiving viewer complaints after two hosts joked about Johnny’s and other male skaters masculinity.
They should ALL apologize, but the fans have rallied behind Johnny to support him which he will also address in the press conference.
Sexuality has NOTHING to do with a person’s athleticism and gay or not, Johnny is one hell of an athlete!
