The Jonas Brothers Open Up About Their Split & Finally Coming Back Together!

The Jonas Brothers talk their reunion in 'Billboard'

Happiness Begins holds a lot more meaning for the Jonas Brothers… other than just being the title of their upcoming album!
Joe, Nick, and Kevin Jonas have reunited, gearing up for their latest project’s drop on June 7, but thankfully haven’t kept fans waiting too long with the release of their new tracks, Sucker and Cool.

Speaking of their comeback in the new issue of Billboard, which was published on Thursday, Nick revealed how this second chance is even “bigger” than their first:

“It feels like the second bite of the apple is potentially going to be even bigger. Because we’re in a healthy place, we’re enjoying the ride. And I think the music is a reflection of that.”

For those who don’t remember, the group disbanded in October 2013 after canceling a tour that was just days from kicking off. Their rep first revealed “there is a deep rift within the band” before official news of their split came to light.
The brothers each had their own words to say about the breakup at the time, with Kevin sharing:

“It’s over for now.”

Nick elaborated with:

“It’s really hard to say ‘forever.’ We’re closing a chapter, for sure. I was feeling kind of trapped. I needed to share my heart with my brothers.”

And Joe confessed:

“It was a unanimous decision.”

Really emo stuff!!
Recognizing how their past work as a trio lacked heartSophie Turner‘s fiancé explained in the new interview:

“We all wanted to create something on our own and were just trying to force it into what was going on. We were going through the motions, without the heart of it… The way we communicated to each other wasn’t healthy anymore.”

As you know, Joe went on to form DNCE in 2015 — which won’t be disbanding despite the reunion — while his younger brother went solo.
Nick added:

“There’s a different magic when we’re together that I wasn’t experiencing. So I started sprinkling some Jonas Brothers songs into my set, but always thought, ‘This would be a lot better with the other Jonas Brothers.'”

Kevin, who has been working on his real estate development and other business ventures, along with being a family man to his wife Danielle Jonas their two daughters, was immediately down for a reunion when talks were initiated in late 2017.
The 31-year-old described “the idea of having my girls see me onstage with my brothers and experience that side of my life” as irresistible.
Hence, their documentary was born. Priyanka Chopra‘s hubby explained:

“The documentary was a way for us to figure out what we wanted to say and who we wanted to be in this new chapter.”

While Joe wasn’t as on board as his siblings, the singer did reveal the moment everything changed. During a jam session in Cuba in July 2018, Jonas said:

“We were playing [our 2008 song] ‘Lovebug’ in this beautiful apartment complex. I was so happy. I looked at the guys and was like, ‘I’m ready. Let’s do this, for real.'”

There were so many moments that had to lead up to this comeback for it to be as successful as it is!
We can only imagine how the trio will blow up with the release of their new album!
