The Hunger Games franchise was in turmoil for a moment when director Gary Ross bailed, but the studio found a subtable replacement and Josh Hutcherson couldn’t be happier!
While chatting up sources on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, the young actor talked up his Catching Fire director, Francis Lawrence.
Hutcherson, who plays Peeta in the blockbuster adaptation, had nothing but compliments by saying:
“I sat down with him a couple of days ago. He’s fantastic. He’s such a smart guy. He has some great ideas for the movie. I just really like where his head is at. I really like him a lot.”
Apparently, the new helmer has a lot of great ideas for Hutcherson’s character in the series, as the actor continued:
“We talked about character development in the stories. As you know, the second book is more complicated than the first, so we talked about the narrative. Everything he said was super smart.”
Let’s hope the sequel is as smart as its director!
