John Lennon‘s oldest son, Julian, is pissed for being “snubbed” from an invite to SEVERAL big Beatles’ events, including Sir Paul McCartney‘s recent NYC wedding reception.
On October 23rd, the day after Paul and new bride Nancy Shevell hosted the star-studded wedding reception, Julian lashed out on his Facebook page for not getting an invite. The 48-year-old and son of John’s first wife, wrote:
“Wow… Snubbed at Macca├óΓé¼Γäós Wedding, Snubbed at the Anniversary of ├óΓé¼╦£LOVE├óΓé¼Γäó in Vegas! Snubbed at Macca├óΓé¼Γäós Wedding reception in NYC, last night. Snubbed at George (Harrison├óΓé¼Γäós)├óΓé¼Γäós Film Premier… What Have I done to be ignored in such a way?”
That is a good question, considering Paul wrote perhaps one of the most famous Beatles songs for Julian. Hey Jude was originally titled Hey Jules and was written for the then 5-year-old because his parents marriage was collapsing.
Julian continued his rant over the absent invitations to important Beatles events, writing:
“I was not invited to ANY of these events… I thought we had a relationship… Obviously not… Gimme some truth… Maybe now it├óΓé¼Γäós time to tell the Truth… I & My Mother will not be eradicated from History… How Dare They.”
Considering both Yoko Ono and her son, Sean Lennon, got invited to every event he mentioned, we can understand why he’d be upset.
However, sources claim there are no hard feelings and attribute his missing invitations to a simple misunderstanding, saying:
“Everyone assumed that Julian was back in Italy ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ so he wasn├óΓé¼Γäót invited. Yoko and Sean of course were ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ especially as they both live in New York. It was just one of those things.”
Yeah, it was just one of those things. You know, those things like Italy doesn’t have email, right?
While that doesn’t explain the lack of effort to contact him (even a tweet would have probably been a nice gesture), it turns out that Julian was actually in New York City the night of the wedding reception! The source continued to explain, saying:
“He was in New York on the night of the wedding reception but nobody realised – so there was a misunderstanding. Julian put up the posting and, the problem with the Internet is, once it├óΓé¼Γäós out there – there├óΓé¼Γäós no hiding it. Julian, though, has no problem with Sir Paul or Yoko.”
Let’s hope! If Paul wrote a song for him that regularly still plays on the radio and just about everybody’s iPod, we’re sure he remembers him.
At least all parties involved now know the best way to contact Julian, no matter where he is in the world — Facebook!
