Stylist June Ambrose Addresses Her CFDA Awards 'Screw Up' After Being Slammed For Kate Spade Question

June Ambrose sparks controversy at the CFDA Awards

UPDATE 9:06 A.M. PST: June Ambrose has finally spoken!
Following backlash over her question about where the late Kate Spade was at the CFDA Awards on Monday, the stylist issued an apology on Tuesday.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote:

“Good morning I want to address an error I made last night while hosting the CFDA red carpet. I sincerely apologize to the family and friends of the late Kate Spade, in addition to the team at Kate Spade for having misspoken. I made a mistake and I’m sorry to those I offended.”

Thoughts on her statement?

Drama at the Brooklyn Museum!
June Ambrose is getting called out after hosting the red carpet show of the CFDA Awards in New York on Monday night.
The stylist, who has worked with JAY-Z, Missy Elliott, and Pharrell, sparked controversy when speaking to Hannah Bronfman about what designer she was wearing during an interview before the show.

When the entrepreneur replied she was rocking Kate Spade, Ambrose called Spade “another one of my favorite American designers.” But then it got very awkward with her next series of questions:

“Are you here with Kate? Is she here? Did you come before her or did she skip by me?”

A visibly confused Bronfman replied:

“Well, the team from Kate is here, we’re four.”

Did June actually forget the designer had passed?
As we reported, Kate died by suicide almost exactly a year ago on June 5, 2018. She was reportedly found in her New York City apartment by a housekeeper, with the cause of death later being confirmed as suicide by hanging.
So heartbreaking.
Spade continues to be missed, so as you can imagine, her fans did not appreciate how Ambrose could ask such a question. See Twitter go off:

Others did defend the stylist, too:

June never explicitly addressed the mistake during her livestream, though she did seem to refer to it as she closed off the night, saying:

“It has been my honor and pleasure to host, screw up and cause chaos tonight on this carpet for you. I hope you enjoyed and learned as much as I did.”

Yikes!
Sadly, we don’t think Ambrose will be getting another chance on the CFDA Awards red carpet, especially as she has yet to apologize for her “screw up” like so many people have called for.
The late designer’s team also haven’t made any comment about the mistake, though they did post a picture of Booksmart stars Molly Gordon, Beanie Feldstein, and Sadie Sink posing with Hannah and Kate Spade’s Creative Director Nicola Glass on the brand’s Instagram page earlier in the night:

What do U think, Perezcious readers?? Is June getting slammed online called for? Should she release an apology? Or was her statement at the end of the livestream enough?
Sound off with all your thoughts in the comments (below)!
