What’s being in a huge, public, David-and-Goliath legal battle really like? Not so great when you’re not the giant, as it turns out.
We get a tidbit here and there about the fight between It Ends With Us stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Like when his lawyer dropped that shocking letter last week claiming Blake had tried to extort her former bestie Taylor Swift, threatening to leak her private texts. And in retaliation, Blake’s legal team accused the other side of “frivolous, baseless claims” — and even asked the court for sanctions and maybe “a formal reprimand” against Justin’s lawyers.
Crazy stuff.
With shots being fired back and forth like that, it can seem like a nonstop battle. And maybe it is for the legal teams. But the celebs themselves aren’t fighting it out 24/7 here. A lot of the time is just waiting until the March 2026 trial date. Blake is spending time being a movie star, showing up to red carpets and doing late night shows. But for Justin? This lawsuit is make or break for him. His life is in limbo right now — we mean, who would work with him until he can legally clear his name after the accusations made by Blake and her hubby Ryan Reynolds?
So until the trial, what’s he doing? A friend told People on Tuesday:
“He’s been spending time with his wife, family and close friends as much as ever. He’s always had a small circle close to him and that hasn’t changed.”
Another insider agreed the Jane The Virgin alum is just really focused on “his family and faith” right now. That’s helping him get through the pressure — as is “leaning on a tight circle of loyal friends”. You can say that again! It’s loyalty that’s paying his legal bills as he’s “financially devastated” on a personal level, right?
But it’s not just money woes crushing Justin. The family friend told People there’s an emotional toll on both Justin AND his wife Emily:
“The lawsuit drama is causing stress for both of them, but their marriage is solid and they are actually closer than ever.”
Well, that’s good. Financial struggles are one of the biggest causes of divorce, so it’s nice to know they’re getting through it. One might worry especially considering the nature of the sexual harassment allegations against Justin. If Emily believed any of it, she’d be justified in being far angrier that he’d put them in such a tenuous economic position. And yes, that part is a struggle. The confidant says:
“March still feels very far away. He’s certainly feeling the financial and emotional weight of his legal fight.”
Oof. We can imagine. However, the source notes Justin is “a very positive guy” who “believes things will work out for the best.” Man, you’d have to be, right?
Another source on the Hollywood side of things told the outlet Justin isn’t even worried about his future in Tinseltown — because he’s “very confident in his legal team.” High praise!
