Justin Bieber really doesn’t get it, does he?
The Baby singer finally responded to Taylor Swift‘s Tumblr takedown of manager Scooter Braun over the latter’s purchase of the former’s entire old music catalogue from Big Machine Records earlier on Sunday.

At this hour on Sunday evening, fans continue to show HUGE support for Taylor — and even other celebs are starting to unfollow the manager. But the Biebs — who has apparently been working really hard on a platform of self-discovery and truth or some other such nonsense — probably would have been better off actually taking some self-discovery time before writing out his response.
Here’s the pic Justin posted earlier Sunday afternoon, with a response he may soon come to regret (below):
And here’s his full message that went along with it (below):
“Hey Taylor. First of all i would like to apologize for posting that hurtful instagram post, at the time i thought it was funny but looking back it was distasteful and insensitive.. I have to be honest though it was my caption and post that I screenshoted of scooter and Kanye that said “taylor swift what up” he didnt have anything to do with it and it wasnt even a part of the conversation in all actuality he was the person who told me not to joke like that.. Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you.! As the years have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences, hurts or frustrations. So for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter. Anyway, One thing i know is both scooter and i love you. I feel like the only way to resolve conflict is through communication. So banter back and fourth online i dont believe solves anything. I’m sure Scooter and i would love to talk to you and resolve any conflict, pain or or any feelings that need to be addressed. Neither scooter or i have anything negative to say about you we truly want the best for you. I usually don’t rebuttal things like this but when you try and deface someone i loves character thats crossing a line…”
Wow. That’s the biggest non-apology apology we may have ever read.
If Justin really were sorry, he never would’ve added the entire second part of it, attempting to shame Taylor for calling out or bullying Scooter when Bieber himself is in trouble for bullying Swift in the first place — and he admitted as much in the first portion of his own non-apology right here!!!
But Wait! There’s More…
Like husband, like wife, though, because guess who’s coming quickly to Scooter’s defense over this one?
Enter Yael Cohen Braun, here to call out Taylor for bullying (below):

Her three-part message attempts to laud her husband as the innocent one here (biased, perhaps?) and while nobody’s saying Taylor is without faults, it’s tough to take Yael at her word considering her obvious nature to defend the man she married.

Moving on to things more worth our time…
According to TMZ, Swift may have known about Braun’s potential purchase of her music catalog for as many as five days, according to their sources close to the controversy. They claim Swift’s father was on the board at Big Machine, and has known about the potential purchase for some time now.
That might be something — that is, if Swift had timed her message to have an ultimately devastating affect on Braun’s buy when she could have bought the catalog herself days before.
But that doesn’t appear to be the case; it’s not clear that Scott Borchetta, the founder of Big Machine Records, ever even gave Swift an opportunity to purchase her music in the first place, which is brutal — and would effectively leave her out in the dark on Braun’s sale anyways, making the exact day she knew about it irrelevant.
She is arguably caught in a lie, though, because in her own Tumblr post on the drama, Swift explicitly writes (below):
“Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.”
And… well, yeah, we now know she may have known about it five days ago!
Or did she?! Swift’s own reps are now doubling down on claims that she did NOT know about Braun’s purchase until Saturday afternoon! According to a source who spoke to People about the whole deal, Taylor was only given a courtesy note about the purchase on Saturday afternoon — and the 29-year-old superstar’s father, Scott, is NOT on the board of directors for the record label, nor did he know about the sale!
The source claims (below):
“Scott Swift is not on the board of directors and has never been. On June 25, there was a shareholder phone call that Scott Swift did not participate in due to a very strict NDA that bound all shareholders and prohibited any discussion at all without risk of severe penalty. Her dad did not join that call because he did not want to be required to withhold any information from his own daughter. Taylor found out from the news articles when she woke up before seeing any text from Scott Borchetta and he did not call her in advance.”
Wow!!!!
Sounds a little more definitive and legally sound than those earlier rumors, at least…
Anyways, what do you think of all this drama, Perezcious readers?!?!
