We bet Justin Timberlake is wishing he could take back the title of his new single!

It was just last week that JT released Take Back the Night and we gotta say, we DIG the tune! But one organization isn’t so fond of Timberlake’s new jam.

The Take Back the Night Foundation is an international group that aims at preventing rape and other forms of violence. And they say Justin used their name WITHOUT their permission!

Lawyers for the organization informed Timberlake that they were disturbed by his song title and its R-rated lyrics. But Justin is saying he had no idea he was copying an existing name!

JT released a statement on Monday saying he not only didn’t mean to offend the foundation but is a HUGE supporter of their cause! Justin said:

“Upon the release of my new single ├óΓé¼╦£Take Back The Night├óΓé¼Γäó, I was made aware of an organization of the same name called The Take Back The Night Foundation. I wanted to take this opportunity to let all know that neither my song nor its lyrics have any association with the organization. As I├óΓé¼Γäóve learned more about The Take Back The Night Foundation, I├óΓé¼Γäóm moved by its efforts to stop violence against women, create safe communities and encourage respectful relationships for women ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ Something we all should rally around. It is my hope that this coincidence will bring more awareness to this cause.”

Hmm. So what now? Do we just…move on and continue dancing? Or does Justin have to scrap his new single?

We think it was an honest mistake on JT’s part and agree that this could actually bring more awareness to the organization! But given that the name IS their registered trademark, we wonder how much further action they’ll now take.

What do YOU think Justin Timberlake should do in this head-scratching sitch???
