But not without a few questions about her lifestyle choices…
JWOWW was meant to be an “ambassador” for 1 in 9: The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition, but after Geri Barish, president of 1 in 9 learned about JWOWW’s drinking and smoking problems (both of which increase the risk of getting breast cancer), he almost had a change of heart.
At a press conference, Barish said that JWOWW “has to practice what she’s going to preach, if she’s going to preach. If she’s not, she shouldn’t be a spokesperson for this disease or any other disease.”
When JWOWW heard about Barish’s comments on her behavior, she became defensive.
“I find it very offensive. It’s kind of insulting to me to have to hear that because I had a breast augmentation or because I smoke or because I drink, I shouldn’t be here. Everybody should be here.”
She continued:
“As someone who is in the public eye, I know that I have an outstanding opportunity to bring awareness to the disease.”
Later that day, Barish changed his mind about JWOWW being a spokesperson, and said that she hopes that JWOWW is truly behind the cause, and believes that if she isn’t, she will be once she visits breast-cancer patients in hospitals.
We├óΓé¼Γäóre glad Barish is giving JWOWW a chance — breast cancer will not be overcome by excluding anyone. We just hope she doesn├óΓé¼Γäót blow it!
