On Kim’s Abduction

“You’re feeling, like, helpless, like what can you do? …I went to Paris on that trip to protect her. Not protect her physically, but to just go and help her with her looks because she’s in Paris. So I’m like, ‘Let me put my eye on it personally.'”
“One of the things she said that she heard was they were coming to rob her and they had to wait until I had left. The people had been strategizing and scheming on that for a long time. So when she probably got to Paris by herself, they were like ‘This is our chance.’ The next thing you know, I get off the flight the next day, and they were like, ‘Oh, OK, we gotta like fall back.’ And then when I left a couple days later — I almost stayed — I hear, my friend comes up to me and says ‘Your wife was robbed.'”

On His Breakdown

“I think I’m in a stronger place than I ever was. After the breakdown├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥or I like to say, the breakthrough.”
“It was like all these things were, like, almost set up to put me on meds, to break me down. The robbery, you know, I don’t know where that came from, was that a bigger plan, a bigger setup? Also, just being on stage four times a week, you know, you get exhausted up there.”

On Rejecting Therapy

“I use the world as my therapist. Anyone I talk to I talk to is my therapist. I will pull them into the conversation when I’m feeling at that point and get their perspective. Sometimes they’ll be like, ‘Damn, I’m talking to Ye, I’m not expecting to talk about this.’ I use that. I talk through things. Anybody that I’m around, and I’ll put that as advice to people. Use people around you as your therapist. Because they probably know more about you. A therapist does a crash course in Ye and then comes and is like, ‘I’m gonna give you some advice.’ I’m not saying that therapists are bad, I’m just saying that I like just talking to acquaintances, friends, family, you know, and I’ll keep ’em on the phone, you know, for 45 minutes at a time, talking through things. It’s kind of narcissistic.”

On Being In The Hospital

“When I was laying down in a hospital bed looking through the window at a black UCLA employee, I felt like I had let him down. Just sad… like ‘Oh that’s Ye. That’s our Ye, yo. That’s our Ye juice. They can’t break him.'”

On JAY-Z & Beyoncé Skipping His Wedding

“I was hurt about them not coming to the wedding, I understand he was going through some things, but if it’s family, you’re not going to miss a wedding.”

On Being Kept Off The Radio

“Ever since the Taylor Swift moment, it’s never been the same, connection with radio. Whatever powers that be, it was much harder after that.”

On Obama Calling Him A ‘Jackass’

“I just think that we were in a period where he had so much stuff to deal with, he couldn’t deal with a wild card like me. I think that’s too unpredictable. Someone that wasn’t being controlled by strategy and thoughts, but someone who’s acting on feelings.”

On His Return To Twitter

“The thoughts that I’m getting out on Twitter now… I want to use this platform to share some of the breakthroughs I’ve had since going to the hospital.”
“I want to change the stigma of ‘crazy’ and the stigma of mental health, period … Best believe I’m going to take the stigma off of the word crazy.”
