Kanye West and A.P.C.‘s Jean Touitou collaborated on a best-selling capsule collection of hoodies and tees together, but it wasn’t all fun and games!
In a recent interview, Jean discussed the finer points of working with Yeezy and couldn’t quite keep his frustration in check.
Regarding Kanye’s notorious fastidiousness, he said:
“I just love the guy, so whatever. He could want a piece to be baggy and skinny at the same time├óΓé¼┬ª [but] oh well, you just find a way.”
Drop-crotch pants! They’re baggy in the crotchal region and tapered around the calves. Sadly, there are no drop-crotch pants in ‘Ye’s collection, just two pairs of straight-leg jeans for $265 a pop.
Jean also spoke about the I Am A God rapper’s penchant for micro-management, saying:
“The devil was in theoretical discussion, not in details. When you deal with a guy who wants to redesign just about anything so it could fit [into the] kingdom of dopeness, it takes some time to just sit and say, ├óΓé¼┼ôOkay, agreed, but let├óΓé¼Γäós get start on something limited, and we├óΓé¼Γäóll see.├óΓé¼┬¥
The “kingdom of dopeness”??? We’d like an invite, please!
And believe it or not, Jean was not impressed by Kanye’s awesomeness. He said:
“Production hasn├óΓé¼Γäót been so limited├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥mind you, sir, we are a small company. I am not anticipating anything. I never do. I am not into the celebrity thing. The only celebrities who impress me are writers. I follow no god, no celeb, no master, no myth.”
Finally, he had these words of wisdom to impart:
“Fashion killed rock and roll. Fashion killed contemporary art, and turned it vulgar. And if hip-hop artists are not careful it will also kill hip hop.”
Guess that means he really hates this song.
