The most memorable part of Saturday Night Live’s season premiere didn’t even make it to air.
Once host Adam Driver signed off at the end of the show, Kanye West took the stage for a third musical performance that segued into a long rant about his support of Donald Trump. Love it, the audience did not.
The rapper held on to the mic after performing his hit Ghost Town to complain that he was “bullied” by producers who discouraged him from wearing his famed MAGA hat while on stage.

But YE can’t be controlled. He put on the dumb red hat and launched into a passionate speech about liberalism in the media in front of performers like Colin Jost and Michael Che. He even sparked boos from the crowd as he cried:
“Actually, blacks weren’t always Democrats… It’s like a plan they did to take the fathers out the homes and promote welfare. Does anybody know about that? That’s the Democratic plan.”
Kanye later mocked those who said he was in the “sunken place” before adding:
“It’s so many times that I talk to a white person about this, and they say, ‘How could you support Trump? He’s racist.’ Well if I was concerned about racism, I would have moved out of America a long time ago. We don’t just make our decisions off of racism. I’ma break it down to you right now: If someone inspires me and I connect with them, I don’t have to believe in all they policies.”
The father-of-three then broke into song as Driver reportedly walked off stage. Watch the mess go down (below).

Chris Rock recorded the rant from the audience and shared it on his Instagram Story. At one point, he seemed to whisper, “My God.”

As for the president, Trump said he “didn’t watch” the season premiere but noted that Kanye was “leading the charge,” tweeting:
Like many, I don’t watch Saturday Night Live (even though I past hosted it) – no longer funny, no talent or charm. It is just a political ad for the Dems. Word is that Kanye West, who put on a MAGA hat after the show (despite being told “no”), was great. He’s leading the charge!

Whether or not the liberal SNL cast enjoyed it, Kanye said he had a blast on the show and teased that he might even be hosting later this season, sharing on Twitter:
