Life hasn’t always been bright lights and rockin’ music for Kara DioGuardi.
In her new memoir, A Helluva High Note, she opens up about being repeatedly molested when she was 11 by a family friend’s teenage son.
Wrote DioGuardi:
“On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina. I remember freezing and not knowing what to do.”
Kara also recounted a story about a time when she went for what she thought was a friendly dinner with a “fairly well-known producer” who then date-raped her.
“[W]ithin a few hours, he was on top of me, pumping, sweating, and speaking to me in Spanish, not a word of which I could understand.”
Sadly, those aren’t the only devastating stories from her book.
It breaks out heart to hear these! Her ability to overcome them is amazing, and speaks volumes about her character!
