Yes, it’s true. Katie Holmes‘ daughter is officially no longer going by Cruise as her last name!
According to Pennsylvania records, the 20-year-old registered to vote under the name Suri Noelle during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in 2024. Page Six confirmed with the state courts on Monday that a person must register to vote with their legal name. That means Suri legally dropped her estranged dad Tom Cruise‘s last name.

It shouldn’t shock anyone that the college student took this step! As a source pointed out to TMZ, Suri and Tom have been estranged since she was 7 years old — roughly around the time Katie divorced the actor after six years of marriage. And it’s reportedly all because he is “not allowed” to have contact with her since she’s not a Scientologist like him.
When Suri graduated from LaGuardia High School in New York two years ago, her father wasn’t in the audience cheering her on. Not only that, she didn’t use his last name back then either. Instead, she went by Suri Noelle, a sweet tribute to her momma. It was unclear at the time if Suri legally changed her name, but it turns out she has!
