How Justin Trudeau Saved Katy Perry From Going To The 'Dark Side'

Justin Trudeau has literally rocked Katy Perry‘s world.

As we’re sure you know, Katy has had one hell of a time lately. From breaking off her engagement with her long term partner Orlando Bloom, to going on The Lifetimes Tour, to those disturbing Ruby Rose allegations… There has been a lot going on in her life. But she says her boyfriend got her through the worst of it.

While speaking to Justin Tranter on the Unfamous podcast Wednesday, the pop star said:

“I have love in my life now. That’s transformed me. You think when The Beatles say, ‘All you need is love,’ it’s a cliché? Clichés are clichés for a reason … it’s like you don’t know until you have your baby how beautiful that experience is and how it transforms you.”

She continued, saying this love she has with the former Canadian Prime Minister kept her from going to “the dark side”:

“I am constantly in transformation, and I have so many placements of Scorpio in my chart that it would be easy for me to go to the dark side. I’m constantly rebirthing, constantly transforming, constantly, you know, phoenix to ashes, then hopefully eagle.”

While touching on the events of the past year, Katy said:

“I don’t typically feel like a victim — you can hear it in my songs [that] I don’t resonate with that — but last year was pretty tough. It would have been easy for me to fall into that weird victim triangle. So, instead of falling into ‘woe is me,’ I was just like, ‘Let’s just feel this f**king pain, let’s feel this anger and let’s move on. Let’s learn from it also. Let’s get some feedback from it’.”

But instead of letting it get to her, Katy said she adjusted some of her “boundaries”:

“You know what it is? It’s really boundaries within yourself, and then when to boil it even further down, it’s just self-respect. It’s just love for yourself. If you don’t have boundaries, you may need to look at that … or peel yourself out of it. That’s what I’ve been doing is peeling myself out of all the conditioning.”
