Kavinsky has reportedly been found dead.
The legendary DJ behind the unforgettable song Nightcall, which was featured in Ryan Gosling’s 2011 cult classic Drive, has sadly died. According to multiple reports, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced that the 50-year-old, whose real name is Vincent Belorgey, was found dead in his Paris home on Tuesday.
As of now, no cause of death has been revealed, but an investigation is apparently underway.
According to the BBC, French newspaper Le Figaro cited a police source in reporting Kavinsky may have suffered a stroke after complaining about headaches in the days leading up to his demise, but nothing official has been confirmed.

After the saddening news was revealed, French culture minister Catherine Pégard paid tribute to Kavinsky’s artistry:
“Danceable and nostalgic at the same time, his music will continue to resonate across borders and different generations.”
Kavinsky worked with talent like Daft Punk, The Weeknd, and others, and even had his music featured during the 2024 Olympics. Most recently, Lady GaGa interpolated Nightcall for an ‘80s synth pop remix of Die With A Smile.
