Kelly Clarkson Says Ex Brandon Blackstock Told Her She Wasn't Sexy Enough For The Voice!

Kelly Clarkson Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock Not Sexy Enough The Voice

No wonder Kelly Clarkson dropped this man like a bad habit! According to unearthed court documents, the American Idol winner’s ex Brandon Blackstock was meaner than Simon Cowell ever was, that’s for sure!

The NY Post revealed never-before-seen transcripts from the exes’ bitter legal battle on Tuesday, and it’s way harsh!

Kelly explained how she had told her husband — who was also her talent manager, remember — for years how she wanted to be on The Voice. But she claimed his response was devastating! He told her NBC were “looking for a more sex symbol type.” They didn’t want his wife because they wanted “someone sexy” like Rihanna. Yeesh!

Her lawyer asked her how she remembers the conversation so specifically, to which she responded:

“Well, a wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays.”

Kelly also claims Brandon told her the network “had to have a diverse thing” and “had to have someone that was black.” Of particular note to the labor commissioner was the fact he told her she was too similar to another of his clients, Blake Shelton. Hmm. Seems like a conflict of interest, besides being some indescribably terrible husbanding. He should have been fighting for her every step of the way! And also acknowledging that SHE IS A SEX SYMBOL! She’s Kelly Clarkson, ffs! Ugh!

Brandon did eventually get Kelly her spot on The Voice in 2018. He testified that he used the old envy tactic, telling NBC she had an offer to be a judge on American Idol, and would take it if they didn’t offer her “somewhere around Blake money.” (Remember, he knew how much Blake Shelton was getting paid since he managed both!) It worked, and she got the gig. (So it would seem he was wrong about her not being sexy enough. Just sayin’.

Innerestingly, however, he apparently wasn’t supposed to broker the deal at all because he wasn’t Kelly’s agent, but rather her manager. And CAA had something to say about that. The whole legal mess is a bit beyond us. But we do know how it turned out.

In the end, Kelly won her suit against her ex. Blackstock was ordered to pay back $2.6 million he owed her — $1.98 mil of which was just for her time on The Voice. And you know what? That’s a pretty darn sexy chunk of change!
