Seems like it was an honest mistake!
Kelly Clarkson has an amazing song out these days with John Legend called Run Run Run and the pop singer is legitimately excited about how amazing the two sound on the song!

But when the band Tokio Hotel tweeted out to their followers about the Clarkson song and called it a cover – Kelly was pretty confused!
Which led to a series of amazing tweets between the two parties!
Here’s how it first went down:
Check out the cover version of our song #RunRunRun from the talented @kelly_clarkson and @johnlegend . so flattered! https://t.co/SDHovqpnju
— Tokio Hotel (@tokiohotel) February 25, 2015
Well, Kelly saw that tweet and responded:
Wow, just heard @tokiohotel version of Run Run Run! So great! Had never heard that before?! Some fans brought this to my attention.
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
But the whole thing was definitely confusing for Kelly who then sent off a few tweets:
Only version I’ve ever heard of Run Run Run was a piano/vocal by 1 of the writers that was sent to me 2 years ago??
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
Well, there’s 2 versions of a great song! 🙂
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
Also, they weren’t included as writers of the song because I guess they didn’t write it according 2 publishers. Not trying to disrespect them
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
It’s a bummer that I wasn’t given all the information and that it looks like I’m ripping them off because I would never do that 2 any artist
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
Well, when Kelly tweeted all that – Tokio Hotel responded with their own version of events. A version that made it almost impossible not to know the whole truth! They tweeted:
@kelly_clarkson instantly loved your version when it was played for us weeks ago and your record company asked us for our publishing info
— Tokio Hotel (@tokiohotel) February 27, 2015

And Kelly was understandably shocked and a little embarrassed! But she handled it pretty well by tweeting:
@tokiohotel oh my gosh are you for real?! I’m so sorry! Well props on writing/recording an amazing song & sorry 4the mix up. Let’s fix this!
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
@tokiohotel I have never seen this & apparently finding out through my publisher that the other writers didn’t submit y’all as writers.
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
@tokiohotel I am a writer myself so please know that I am going to help fix this. I would love to send y’all the original demo I was sent.
— Kelly Clarkson (@kelly_clarkson) February 27, 2015
And Tokio Hotel responded in the most adorable fashion by tweeting:
@kelly_clarkson no worries! All good! All love! Enjoy your release!
— Tokio Hotel (@tokiohotel) February 27, 2015
We’re glad everything seems to be cleared up now and hopefully those song credits will be fixed ASAP!
Kelly somehow turned a messy situation into one where both sides are expressing their love for one another!
Only Kelly Clarkson could do that, folks! She’s amazing even when she’s wrong!!
Check out BOTH versions of the ah-mazing song down (below) !!!
