Kevin Hart‘s legal troubles just got a few million times more complicated… 60 million, to be exact.
The comedian is being sued by Montia Sabbag, the woman at the center of that infamous sex tap extortion scandal from two years ago, for $60 million. The suit covers damages for alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and invasion of privacy, according to court documents obtained by People.

The 40-year-old Hart, who is busy still recovering from a scary car accident that occurred over Labor Day weekend, has not yet responded to a request for comment.
As you may recall, back in 2017, the Night School star abruptly posted a video to his Instagram page claiming someone was attempting to extort him over a sexually suggestive video clip. The tape in question involved Hart and Sabbag, in a hotel room in Las Vegas. Soon thereafter, Hart’s former friend Jonathan Todd Jackson was arrested and charged with extortion, though he has denied ever attempting to extort the comedian.
Now, Sabbag has gotten into the game, and according to her legal team in the lawsuit, she alleges the Jumanji comedian actually knew about the secret camera in their hotel room. Worse yet, the plaintiff’s lawyers claim in the accusatory court docs that Hart allegedly gave Jackson access to the room so they could tape her in secret.

As it’s written in the legal docs now, the point of it all was apparently at Sabbag’s expense. Hart and Jackson allegedly produced the video in order to “promote [Hart’s] Irresponsible Tour, which was a record-breaking comedy, and to increase his overall pop culture status.” Wow. Quite the accusation…
Setting damages at $60 million is obviously a lot of money, and Sabbag may well settle for a fraction of that in the future, but as of right now the suit is very much real — and the woman and her attorneys are very, very serious. She’s also demanding a trial by jury in this case.

And she’s been consistent in her words that she was not herself involved with the extortion, either. As you may recall, almost exactly two years ago, she held a press conference identifying herself as the woman involved on the tape and adding (below):
“I am not an extortionist. I had nothing to do with these recordings.”
Two years of denials like that may make a strong case for Sabbag!
At least one thing is for sure here: there’s a lot on Kevin’s plate right now, and this may just add more fuel to the proverbial fire.
