As we reported, Donald Trump granted Alice Marie Johnson clemency after he met with the KUWTK star, who has publicly pleaded the 63-year-old’s case.

On Wednesday, after 22 years behind bars, the grandmother — who was originally sentenced to life without parole for drug trafficking — was finally released.
On Friday, in an interview with CNN‘s Van Jones, Kanye West‘s wife opens up about her role in securing the presidential pardon for Johnson.
When asked how her meeting with the President came about, the 37-year-old explained:
“When I initially called Ivanka [Trump], I said I would love a meeting with your dad. I said that from the start. Then that took about six or seven months to get├óΓé¼┬ª Schedules were changing, and they had rescheduled the meeting and it happened to be on Alice’s birthday├óΓé¼┬ª This is just all aligned├óΓé¼┬ª I just feel this is the right day to do it.”
Despite being (arguably) the most famous reality TV star in the world, Kardashian said she was “starstruck” when she saw Trump in the Oval Office.
“I never get starstruck, I was starstruck over the Oval Office.”
When she received the phone call from Donnie about Johnson’s clemency, Kardashian said her “heart was so full.”
“I knew it had to be some news├óΓé¼┬ª I was feeling things were looking really positive├óΓé¼┬ª Yeah, he called my cell phone├óΓé¼┬ª He said that he’s really investigated this case├óΓé¼┬ª Everyone had a unanimous… feeling of Alice that she will live a great life├óΓé¼┬ª She has done her time├óΓé¼┬ª She’s never had any infractions├óΓé¼┬ª and she became an ordained minister. She got so many degrees├óΓé¼┬ª He felt her heart and he explained that to me├óΓé¼┬ª My heart was so full.”
Jones also asked the mother-of-three if she thinks Trump is using her as a political pawn to give him legitimacy. She replied:
“I think Kanye’s already given him legitimacy in that way. I was working on this before├óΓé¼┬ª I don’t think I would be used├óΓé¼┬ª At the end of the day, he heard me out, we got the job done. What could he really use me for?”
