Saved by the Kim Kardashian West!
The KUWTK star just bought an inmate facing the icy breath of capital punishment more time to get himself off death row, and she was apparently meeting with him face-to-face when he learned the wonderful news!
According to TMZ, Kim was in the process of trying to stay the execution of Rodney Reed, which was originally set for November 20, as she and others believe there’s substantial evidence to exonerate him of the murder he was convicted of over 20 years ago.
Fortunately for Rodney, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals somewhat agreed, and issued the stay of execution — recommending a 120-day reprieve — on Friday!

To make matters more joyous, sources say the prison reform activist was in the middle of meeting with Rodney when the warden knocked on the door to give them the good news, and it was “extremely emotional,” according to the outlet.
The insiders went on to explain that Kim traveled to Texas with Kanye West for his upcoming performance at Joel Osteen’s church when she decided to meet with the convicted murderer, hoping to get the chance to speak with him in person, hear his story, and hatch a last minute effort to save his life.
The reality star was reportedly granted special permission by authorities to meet with Reed as a legal visitation. Getting a visit with an inmate on death row is no easy feat; but Kimmy Kakes is a legal apprentice, so she was able to pull it off, TMZ reports.
Later Friday, the KKW Beauty mogul celebrated the court’s decision, saying:
“Today, I had the honor of meeting Rodney Reed in person and the privilege of sitting with him when he got the news that the highest court in Texas had issued a stay of execution and remanded the case back to the trial court for further consideration… Words cannot describe the relief and hope that swept over the room in that moment. That hope had been building over the last few weeks around Rodney’s case. We have seen Democrats and Republicans come together. We have seen grassroots activists and lawmakers link arms.
We have heard people all around the globe speak up. And all because of a deep belief that every man or woman accused of a crime – especially one punishable by death – deserves the chance to have all available evidence considered. So grateful for the commitment and passion of everyone who voiced their support, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles for their recommendation to issue a 120 day reprieve, and the courts for issuing a stay!”
As fans know, the mother-of-four has publicly pleaded for Governor Greg Abbott to stop the execution, joining the choir of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and countless celebrities who have voiced support to stop Reed’s upcoming death.

Rodney is on death row for the 1996 murder of Stacey Stites. While police initially said he’d raped, assaulted, and strangled her to death, Reed insists the two had a consensual affair, and has maintained his innocence in killing her for over 20 years now.
Recently, a former inmate claimed to know the real murderer, Stites’ own fiance, who apparently confessed to him while behind bars that he killed her for sleeping around.
We’ll see if Kimberly gets him off death row completely. If she does, we’re sure he’ll have a bright future as a SKIMS model.
