Kim Kardashian Visits Death Row To Help Free Inmate Kevin Cooper!

Kim Kardashian visits jail!

Kim Kardashian West continues to promote prison reform.
According to TMZ, on Thursday, the KUWTK star paid a visit to the San Quentin State Prison to meet with inmate Kevin Cooper.

In the 1980s, the now-61-year-old was convicted of committing four heinous murders in Chino Hills, and was sent directly to death row.
However, from then until now, the death penalty has gone through several evolutions — first it was suspended, then it was reinstated, then the method of choice was a gas chamber, which then turned into death by lethal injection — while Cooper maintained his innocence.
Per the publication, the reality TV personality — dressed in a baggy, black jumpsuit — spoke to Cooper for two hours, and is reportedly convinced that he was framed for the alleged crimes.
Back in October 2018, Kardashian wrote a tweet to then-California Governor Jerry Brown asking him to consider Cooper’s case. While linking to a New York Times article — which suggested that a DNA test could exonerate Kevin — she penned:

“Governor Brown, please add Kevin Cooper to your legacy of smart, fair and thoughtful criminal justice reforms.”

While Brown eventually ordered DNA testing, the new Governor — Gavin Newsom — ordered additional testing in February, and is awaiting the results.
In the meantime, Cooper will not be executed, in part because Newsom is a death penalty opponent who has suspended all executions during his tenure.
Kim previously visited San Quentin in November 2018, but it is unclear if she met with Cooper.
Reportedly, she stayed for a couple of hours to meet with staff and inmates, and to check out the programs offered to prisoners.
In May 2018, Kim met with Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a now-64-year-old grandmother who was sentenced life without parole for drug trafficking.
Fast forward to June 2018, the President granted clemency to Johnson, who was released after serving 21 years behind bars. After the big news was revealed, Kardashian wrote on Twitter:

“I hope to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition.”

During his 2019 State of the Union Address in February, Trump invited Johnson, who received a standing ovation by members of the United States Congress and their guests.
As we wrote, Kardashian reportedly helped free 17 prisoners who had been serving life sentences for low-level, non-violent drug offenses.
We imagine she’ll make sure Cooper is next.
