King Charles Not Out Of Woods Yet Amid Cancer Treatment -- But Why Palace Is Staying 'Positive'

King Charles III‘s cancer treatment will continue into the New Year, but palace sources insist this isn’t a bad thing.

A royal source confirmed the monarch is still undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, and will continue to do so next year as he nears the one-year mark of his diagnosis. Per Sky News on Friday, the insider shared:

“His treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”

Hmm. It’s not like they’re announcing he’s done with chemo like Princess Catherine. So, what does “as a managed condition” mean in this situation??

Dame Laura Lee, chief executive of the cancer support charity Maggie’s, offered a bit of an explanation, telling the outlet:

“It’s very common for treatment to be ongoing for very long periods of time, as is the treatment that the Princess of Wales went through, which is an intense period of treatment over a year, and then it comes to a point where it’s on an end, and she’s on that recovery from some of the impacts of her treatment.”

She continued:

“So we’ve got immunotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy. There are all sorts of different treatment modalities. And so it’s not surprising at all.”

As Perezcious readers know, the 76-year-old went in for a planned prostate surgery in January and announced the next month he was diagnosed with cancer. In recent weeks, he was well enough to briefly pause treatment to travel, and he’s gearing up for a busy 2025 with lots of worldwide engagements.

Palace insiders told the outlet “the intention is for the monarch to return to a full programme of public duties next year,” and plans for the first half of the year include “an exciting mix of national and international events.” The outlet also learned the King and Queen Camilla seem happier now compared to this time last year, in part thanks to the outpouring of love they’ve received from the public. All good signs of progress! We wish Charles well as he continues to battle this disease!
