If we didn’t already love Kristen Bell with all our hearts, this would do it! As it stands, now we have laser beams of love shooting out from everywhere, all aimed at that sloth-loving, nugget of pure golden sunshine!
Kristen recently sat down with The Advocate to talk about all the wonderful things going on in her life: her new TV show, her bestie Zachary Quinto coming out and her upcoming wedding to the wonderful Dax Shepard. Well, actually, no wedding plans have happened quite yet. Turns out, Kristen and Dax have decided to put that momentous occasion on hold for now, until some serious changes are made in our country. She explained in the interview:
“I get a ton of questions about when Dax and I are getting married. I usually blow them off because it├óΓé¼Γäós nobody├óΓé¼Γäós business. To be honest with you ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and this is the first time I├óΓé¼Γäóve ever said this to a journalist, but it feels like the perfect time and place ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ the reason we├óΓé¼Γäóre not rushing to get married is because I don├óΓé¼Γäót feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that├óΓé¼Γäós denied to my best friends. That├óΓé¼Γäós why we├óΓé¼Γäóve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We├óΓé¼Γäóre just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”
Girl, you just about tore us up. We’re shedding little tears of joy. You guys are jus the best and your support is unmeasurable. Bless you both for standing by what is right and fair for all!
But Kristen doesn’t stop there! Here are some more gems from her interview:
On gay actors in Hollywood:
“If you feel more comfortable living a private lifestyle, then that├óΓé¼Γäós your right. I know it can be terrifying, so I don├óΓé¼Γäót fault anyone who isn├óΓé¼Γäót ready to come out. But if you├óΓé¼Γäóre a person in the spotlight, I do think it├óΓé¼Γäós of paramount importance that you realize how much good you could do for people who look up to you. … If I struggled with an issue like this, I hope that I would be able to set that kind of example, because I├óΓé¼Γäód want someone to set that example for me.”
On the coming-out of longtime friend Zachary Quinto:
“Zach came out when he was ready, he did it for his own very specific reasons, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm wildly proud of him. … He didn├óΓé¼Γäót come to me for counsel about that, but Zachary needs no encouragement from anyone. He has known exactly who he is since the day I met him. … Zach has always been sexy to me, even though I knew he was never interested in me. It doesn├óΓé¼Γäót make him any less sexy, onscreen or off.
On the cult camp appeal of Burlesque:
“I love that it├óΓé¼Γäós become a guilty pleasure, especially among gay people. Of course, Christina Aguilera and Cher are also very vocal in their support of the gay community, so we├óΓé¼Γäóre all over the moon that they├óΓé¼Γäóve celebrated the movie. Truth be told, it was really a love letter to the gay community in many ways.”
On thinking she might walk away from Burlesque as a lesbian:
“Well, the women on that film were just so beautiful. Thank God for Dax Shepard. Unfortunately for all the women in America, he├óΓé¼Γäós the most charming, adorable human walking the planet, so I couldn├óΓé¼Γäót make the switch.
On the true identity of Gossip Girl, whom Bell voices:
“I would love it if Gossip Girl were a gay man ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ or a drag queen! … I├óΓé¼Γäóm actually going to suggest that as soon as possible.”
Kristen! We’re flattered! For you to think of us, the Queen of Gossip, to step in and be known to the world as the real Gossip Girl. We’re just so thrilled and delighted and titillated and…
Wait, she was talking about us, right? RIGHT?!
