The more we learn about the end of Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler‘s marriage, the messier it gets.
According to new information from insiders, the Tennessee-based pair was quite antagonistic towards each other for quite a while ahead of their eventual divorce announcement several days ago. And to hear the sources tell it, this split was truly a long time in coming.

One insider plainly opined that the Very Cavallari star and her now-estranged husband were the talks of the town in America’s country music capital, saying to Us Weekly on Monday:
“The word around Nashville is they really just don’t like each other anymore. They would accuse each other of cheating, but nothing really solid. They are both very stubborn and bump heads a lot and neither backs down.”
Whoa! It’s quite a thing to pop off and say “they really just don’t like each other anymore.” Not exactly ideal for a healthy marriage!!! While the 33-year-old reality TV star and her 36-year-old former NFL stud may have put up a united front with a very professional and classy public announcement of their divorce, things behind the scenes have long been tumultuous.
The source adds more about that, saying:
“Kristin and Jay always seemed annoyed with each other and they were only on the same side when it came to their kids. Their personal relationship became antagonistic and it was better for their whole family to divorce.”
Jeez!! It’s refreshing to hear both parties were so into their children, we suppose — sons Camden, 7, and Jaxon, 5, and daughter Saylor, 4 — but again, not such great news here about how they apparently treated each other.
But wait! It gets worse!
One of the centerpieces of their divorce overall, according to E! News, is the apparent issue of Jay failing to support Kristin’s career goals and ambitions.
An insider told the outlet how the pair went to counseling to work through some of those career-related problems, but ultimately, it seemed like Jay never got on board with Kristin:
“Jay wasn’t as supportive of her career as she would have liked. The issues were ongoing for a long time. Things weren’t improving. They both wanted the marriage to work … But this was a buildup and a long time coming. It wasn’t a sudden decision and they have known for a while that things were headed in this direction.”
Knowing what we know now about how combative and spiteful these two apparently were to each other, it’s not particularly surprising to hear about the apparent lack of career support, is it?

With them still in the very early days of divorce proceedings, there’s obviously a long way to go here. And with three young, impressionable children in limbo, we hope they keep things cordial enough for the sake of their offspring, at the very least. But still, something tells us there will be more rough patches ahead…
