Before Jay Cutler came into the picture, Kristin Cavallari had quite a few other men in her life!
From the romances we saw unfold on-screen to the ones that went down behind the scenes, Miz Cavallari went through several romances before settling down with the NFL player. Now that they’ve called it quits, let’s take a look back at who came in the early years.

Stephen Colletti
Your first love is usually unforgettable, and that’s definitely the case with Stephen Colletti! When we first met the pair on Laguna Beach back in 2004, they had already dated the year prior, much to the chagrin of Lauren Conrad, AKA Stephen’s BFF who had a major crush.
In her 2016 book, Balancing in Heels, Cavallari wrote about the love triangle which played out on MTV:
“We loved hard and fought hard. My relationship with Stephen went from our own high school romance to the fodder of a hugely successful television show. Stephen was the most important thing in my life, and there was nothing I cared about more. I hated fighting with him on camera because it felt like I was airing all our dirty laundry.”
Brody Jenner
Though they faked a romance for The Hills cameras, Kristin’s relationship with Brody Jenner years earlier was very much real! After being introduced by Laguna Beach co-star Talan Torriero, they went on to date for almost a year on and off before calling it quits in 2006. Miz Cavallari spilled on Bethenny back in 2012:
“I dated Brody when I was 18, right after Laguna Beach, actually, and that’s it. And then on the show, on The Hills, they had us ‘dating’ for a few episodes.”
Nick Zano
Once things ended with Brody, the reality TV star became linked to actor Nick Zano, who at the time was best known for his role in the sitcom What I Like About You.
Things were actually pretty serious up until it fizzled out in December 2007, so much so that KCav had his initials tattooed on her inner left wrist! Obviously, that was removed post-breakup in early January 2008.
Miguel Medina
While she faked an on-screen romance with Mr. Jenner, her off-screen romance with someone behind-the-scenes was the real tea! Back in 2010, Cavallari was dating MTV cameraman Miguel Medina, and managed to keep things super hush-hush.
The Uncommon James founder spilled all the tea while catching up with former castmates Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag while the El Lay ladies visited Nashville for an episode of Very Cavallari:
“We dated for a few months and nobody knew. And I was dating Brody on the show and like, meanwhile, Miguel was like filming it.”
Eventually, the two were caught by paparazzi at a Canadian airport, which left Kristin understandably annoyed as they were snapped “a week before we wrapped the show.”
Jay Cutler
Jay made the first move by inviting her to visit him in Illinois where he was playing for the Chicago Bears. At first, she was turned off, but a year later she was in the Windy City visiting her mom, who reminded her of the previous offer made by the quarterback.
In her book Balancing in Heels, the former MTV personality wrote:
“We hung out two nights later, and that began a swift and intense romance. I flew back to Chicago at least every two weeks. When we were apart, we texted constantly, and he wrote me the sweetest love emails. He was the strong, manly man I wanted but had a sweet, romantic side as well.”
And the rest is history! After just eight months together, Cutler popped the question in April 2011 during a getaway to Mexico, though they soon after called it quits for a few months. They reconciled later in the year, confirming in November they were back on and re-engaged.
Just two months later, the couple shared some major news: they were expecting a baby! On August 8, 2012, they welcomed son Camden Jack Cutler into the world. They later got hitched in a civil ceremony on June 7, 2013 and a day later threw a reception for close family and friends in Nashville. Within a year of marriage, they welcomed son Jaxon Wyatt Cutler on May 7, 2014, and later added daughter Saylor James Cutler to the crew on November 23, 2015.
After nearly seven years of marriage and a decade total together, the pair announced their split on April 26, 2020.
And as for Kristin’s future? As they say, the rest is still unwritten…
