In a surprise move, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler‘s child custody agreement has changed!
On Tuesday’s episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, the reality star revealed she no longer has “split custody” with her ex-husband! While detailing her breakup from Mark Estes, she let slip:
“I have no interest in getting back into the dating world right now. I also don’t know how much time I have for dating. When I was dating last fall, I was still doing split custody with my ex and I had every other week off from my kids and that’s changed.”
Wait, what?? How inneresting…

After the co-parents’ split in 2020 after seven years of marriage, they agreed to joint custody of their three children, Camden, 12, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8. Literally, they split everything up exactly evenly! While in the past she told Mr. Warburton magazine that co-parenting had its “challenges,” especially in the early days, they managed to keep any issues they faced on the down low, so there’s really no easy answer for why this would have changed. The Laguna Beach alum also didn’t elaborate on how exactly the agreement has shifted either, but it sounds like she has the kids a lot more — no longer “every other week off” — if she doesn’t have enough time to date!
The change doesn’t seem to be a problem for the momma bear, who declared she’s loving life right now despite her recent heartbreak:
“So, I’m really happy and really content having my life right now being about my kids and work. Happiness for me is peace and peace for me is making this home exactly how I want it. I’m a homebody — I really am. Being home and cooking and having friends over. Those things make me happy. Beyond that, I don’t really have a lot of time for anything else.”
FWIW, the exes did have differing opinions on custody arrangements when they first filed for a split. The NFL star asked for joint custody while his ex-wife fought for primary physical custody as they argued over who was the “primary caretaker” of the little ones. Ultimately, the joint custody seemed to be working… but something clearly happened! Seems like this has worked out in her favor, but we wonder what’s going on! We hope, at the end of the day, that this is what’s best for the children above all else.
