Manchester City Player Apologizes For Lockdown Party With Sex Workers — WTF?

kyle walker throws sex party in uk

This doesn’t sound all that “essential” to us…

Kyle Walker, a football (AKA soccer) player for Manchester City in the UK, is saying sorry after he invited sex workers to a “lockdown party” while he should have been quarantining at home because of the coronavirus.

It’d be one thing if you were snapped in your skivvies by a sex worker on any average day, but considering this late-night rendezvous is a clear violation of social distancing guidelines in the UK… it’s DEFINITELY not cool.

A 21-year-old escort spoke to The Sun about how she and another escort were called on the evening of March 24 to Walker’s luxury residence where they met him (using the alias “Kai”) and another male friend. The ladies arrived around 10:30 p.m. and departed around 2 a.m. after being paid £2,200 (about $2,700) in cash for services rendered.

Per the outlet, the 29-year-old broke up with his long-term girlfriend earlier this year after the paper reported he had gotten another woman pregnant.

Days later, he posted a PSA-style video to his Instagram, asking his followers to stay home (if you want to get technical, he did that) on behalf of the essential workers:

The irony!!

In a statement, Walker — who also plays for England’s national team as a defender — apologized for his actions:

“I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made last week. I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of being a role model. As such, I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club, supporters and the public for letting them down.

There are heroes out there making a vital difference to society at the moment, and I have been keen to help support and highlight their amazing sacrifices and life-saving work over the past week. My actions are in direct contrast to what I should have been doing regarding the lockdown.”

Manchester City also issued a statement in response:

“We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting an internal disciplinary procedure in the coming days.”

Walker could face a fine for his actions. An earlier statement from the team acknowledged the situation “regarding the private life of Kyle Walker in relation to a breach of the UK lockdown and social distancing rules.” ICYMI, the Premier League is suspended indefinitely amid the COVID-19 outbreak, so it’s unclear what will come of things.
