Some people haven’t been happy with the idea of Lady GaGa setting up a partnership with Target to release an exclusive version of her new upcoming album because of the shizz that went down last year with political donations.
Well, the GaGa herself is now talking about it!!
Here’s what she has to say:
“That discussion was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever had in a business meeting. Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past…our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those groups.”
Um, that sounds like a positive intention to us, not that she’s supporting the fact that their political donations went to an anti-gay activists.
Now, it is a little disappointing that Target gives away so much money (weekly, even) and only a small portion of it is going to the LGBT community (less than 2%), but at least it’s a start.
The company says it has “earmarked” almost half a million dollars for the community, which will absolutely be appreciated!
We also brought up that Target has now appointed a new political committee to be more “thoughtful” with their donations, though this doesn’t guarantee that money can’t end up being donated to future candidates that sadly have an anti-gay history.
The committee, though, is now in place to make sure those decisions aren’t made recklessly.
Plus, the GaGa partnership seems to hinge on them not going that route, and she will DEF hear about it from her fans if things don’t go smoothly!
This is the right direction, though!
