Lala Kent Reveals Heart-Dropping Details Of Birthing Experience With Second Daughter

Lala Kent is opening up about her absolutely terrifying birth experience.

The Vanderpump Rules star officially became a mom of two earlier this month, welcoming her second daughter Sosa. But the birth of Ocean‘s little sis was anything but a breeze. During Saturday’s episode of her Give Them Lala podcast, the 34-year-old told the story of the moment she knew something was horribly wrong in the delivery room. She recalled:

“During my second-to-last push, [the doctor] kind of stands up really fast and he’s fixated on the monitor, and he’s making eyes with the nurse who’s reading things to him that I clearly don’t understand because I’m not a doctor. And he looks nervous, and I’m like, ‘Is everything okay?’ and he goes, ‘Yep I just want you to keep pushing, we’re going to keep pushing.’ And I was like, ‘Tell me when to go,’ and he’s like, ‘I want you to go right now.’”

Oh god, it’s a birth nightmare!

Lala revealed that little Sosa’s umbilical cord was “wrapped around her neck a couple of times.” Oh no! That’s so scary!! But the doctor “stayed calm” and the birth seemed to finally go OK. However, when Sosa came out, they put her on the reality star’s chest, and something seemed off. She recalled:

“I go to hug her — you know, embrace my baby — but the way that the nurse is acting with the baby, she’s not crying. She does one cry and then it stops. And my hands are freezing so I’m like, I’m not touching her because I don’t want to send her into shock, and I keep asking the nurse, ‘Is she okay? Is she okay?’ And they’re like rubbing her chest, sucking things out of her mouth.”

What a terrifying thing to go through after carrying your child for nine months! Poor Lala must have been absolutely freaking out! She went on to explain:

“Apparently for momma it was great that she came out so quickly because I didn’t have to push very many times, but with a fast birth like that, she swallowed a lot of fluid — amniotic fluid. To the point where during our stay in the hospital, they were going to discharge me the next day, but she had so much fluid that she was vomiting all the food. She had an appetite, she was breathing okay, she had her coloring, her tummy was soft.”

But then something else happened the next day… Lala revealed Sosa “turned purple,” which completely “freaked out” her nurses, who brought in a specialist, who had some nerve-wracking news. Lala recalled the specialist telling her:

“We want a surgeon to look at her because this isn’t normal, and we got 10 milliliters of amniotic fluid out of her stomach the first time, then we got another eight, then we got another however many milliliters, and now we’re draining it through the nose and it won’t stop.’ And they said we’re either going to have pediatric surgery deal with it, or we want to keep her in the NICU.”

The podcast host continued:

“So of course I’m beside myself. I’m like what the f**k. They come in and they’re like, ‘What was your pregnancy like?’ And I’m like, it was perfect. Like, literally. They were perplexed, but as someone who’s not a doctor and I don’t know these things and I had a beautiful pregnancy, she kicked my ass, she was active, there were no concerns … So I started feeling guilty.”

We can only imagine what a panicked state she was in! She recalled:

“I started crying, and they were like, ‘You did nothing wrong during pregnancy; we’re just a little confused.’”

However, Sosa ended up fighting through her rough beginning and eventually turned out to be completely fine. Thank goodness! And now Lala is momma to two beautiful, healthy girls!
