Las Damas de Blanco, known as the Ladies in White, have vowed to remain an active force as long as there is still one person in Cuba imprisoned for being different or thinking differently.
But the ladies aren’t going unrecognized.
This past Friday in Spain, member Melva Santana Ariz, the wife of former Cuban prisoner Alfredo Domínguez Batista, received the Coexistence Award from the Manuel Broseta Foundation on behalf of all the wives, daughters, and sisters of the imprisoned dissidents by Castro’s government.
We hope the ladies will no longer have to protest and that one day all those unjustly imprisoned in Cuba will be released.
