Lena Dunham is getting a LOT of heat for seemingly throwing shade at Odell Beckham Jr.!
In her Lenny Letter interview with Amy Schumer released on Friday, the actress recalled her experience at the 2016 Met Gala, describing how the NFL wide receiver completely ignored her, even though they sat at the same table.

The anecdote really pissed people off, because the Girls creator assumed the football player didn’t want to talk to her because he wasn’t interested in having sex with her.
Irritated Twitter users flocked to the status-sharing site to slam the 30-year-old, calling her self-absorbed, hypocritical, and even racist, posting things like:
Lena Dunham attaching these thoughts to Odell Beckham Jr. when he didn’t say anything and wasn’t rude is baffling pic.twitter.com/vMZgFSWafO

“Men, it’s not your right to talk to women!” – Lena Dunham
“OBJ is a sexist for not hitting on me.” – Lena Dunham also as well

Racism aside, of course Lena Dunham would think that someone who isn’t interested in her is also obsessing over her. https://t.co/eVeeB1S8Tw

Lena Dunham is allegedly a feminist, but got upset because Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t want to sleep with her?!? WTF https://t.co/6kQqV1LZ1G

sad thoughts: there are still people around pretending lena dunham is a progressive icon https://t.co/r85aNhWcH6

So Lena Dunham has a boyfriend yet she wants Odell to pay attention to her? Girl you have some serious issues.

Lena Dunham is mad at OBJ not talking to her at their Met Gala table. Uh Lena, you can initiate conversation too. It goes both ways.

So wait…what, if anything, did O’dell Beckham Jr ACTUALLY say to Lena Dunham? Seems like a lot of racist assumptions…
— Bruce Smith (@RisRBruce) September 2, 2016
So Lena Dunham gets ignored by OBJ and then calls him a racist and a misogynist, all while using racially motivated stereotypes😒 #Privilege

I honestly really don’t like Lena Dunham she makes everything about feminism and herself, and wants praise for her words.

Lena Dunham is being EXACTLY the type of individual she claims she’s against…make assumptions much?

And, after being faced with so much social media hate, Miz Dunham took to her own Twitter account to clarify her controversial comments, writing:
.@OBJ_3 is talented, stylish, seems super awesome and wasn’t into chatting with me at a fancy party.
— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) September 2, 2016
My story about him was clearly (to me) about my own insecurities as an average-bodied woman at a table of supermodels & athletes.
— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) September 2, 2016
It’s not an assumption about who he is or an expectation of sexual attention. It’s my sense of humor, which has kept me alive for 30 years.
— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) September 2, 2016
Glad the outrage machine roars on though, right @amyschumer?
— Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) September 2, 2016
And for good measure, she also defend her decision to try to grind on Michael B. Jordan at the star-studded event, adding:
ps I’ll try and dance myself onto @michaelb4jordan if I have the chance, even when I’m a married grandma. I’m a red blooded str8 woman!
