Leonardo DiCaprio's Charity Auction Was A HUGE Success!!

leonardo dicaprio auction christies conservation world help charity art banksy success major
Leonardo DiCaprio took some time out of his busy schedule to oversee The 11th Hour Auction, which was held at Christie’s in New York. The money was set to go to conservation charities and help the world as a whole — and HOLY SHIZZ did the auction deliver!!
The auction had works by many of the world’s most preeminent contemporary artists, and brought in $38.8 MILLION… meaning it was one of the largest successes of its kind!
We aren’t joking! They had 13 world auction records for works of art from these folks: Carol Bove, Joe Bradley, Dan Colen, Mark Grotjahn, Sergej Jensen, Bharti Kher, Robert Longo, Adam McEwen, Raymond Pettibon, Elizabeth Peyton, Rob Pruitt, Sterling Ruby and Mark Ryden. 9 works of art were sold for OVER one million dollars!
Here’s what Leo said:

“Despite the significant efforts of organizations and individuals all over the world, our modern way of life has caused unprecedented devastation to our oceans, our forests and our wildlife. Each of these natural systems is critical to our way of life: they provide us with the food that we eat, the air that we breathe and the natural resources we need to survive. The time to protect them is long overdue. I am very grateful to Christie’s, Loic Gouzer, and the artists who contributed great works of art for making this auction possible.”

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has worked on helping the environment since 1998, so they’ll be doing some major good with the money!
Congrats to everyone involved!!
