Oof. We’ve been waiting for more about the legal drama between the late Liam Payne and ex-fiancée Maya Henry to drop. And it finally happened this week.
If you didn’t already know, days before the singer died in October after using multiple drugs and jumping from a fourth-story balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel, the 24-year-old model opened up on social media about the alleged abuse she suffered during her relationship with him, which lasted from 2018 to 2022. Among the viral videos that she posted to TikTok at the time, Maya claimed Liam continued to blow up her phone constantly — even though they broke up. He even contacted her mom, Azteca Henry. Whoa! After putting him on blast for his alleged obsession with her, she took things further, retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna, and sent a cease and desist to the 31-year-old musician due to “the emergence of new and concerning information.” Now, we’re finding out about what all that “new and concerning information” is. Buckle up, Perezcious readers. We have a lot of shocking details to get through here.
Per Page Six, according to a cease and desist letter that was sent to Liam, his attorney, and his agents on October 9, Maya’s lawyers claimed the Teardrops artist “repeatedly sent unsolicited and disturbing images and videos in the past to Maya Henry.” What do they mean? He allegedly shared “pictures of his genitals and various videos of Mr. Payne performing disturbing sexual acts on himself.” And apparently it wasn’t just his ex who received those sexually explicit videos and photos! The docs say he also sent them to her family! WHAT?! He was allegedly sending d**k pics to her fam?! And that’s not all…
The legal notice went on to accuse Liam of “actively communicating” with third parties to distribute “intimate visual material” showing Maya in an “intimate fashion.” So, revenge porn. Maya allegedly received a direct message on Instagram on October 6 from a woman claiming to know the performer well. She claimed she and Liam started talking years ago. But recently, he allegedly reached out to her to see if she wanted naked pictures of Maya and his girlfriend! Whoa! Page Six, who reviewed a copy of the message from the unnamed person, said it read:
“The main reason I reached out is because he started blowing up my phone very recently on an iCloud email, and when I asked who it was, he started asking me if I wanted nudes of you/ his current gf.”
The current girlfriend in question most likely was Kate Cassidy — making this alleged situation even more disgusting! How could he not only allegedly try to distribute the nudes of his ex but his own partner? That is so messed up…
The woman told Maya she replied “absolutely not” to Liam and then decided to give the social media influencer “a heads up that he offered that.” Per the message, the unnamed woman also received a message from Kate asking her why her number was blocked from her boyfriend’s phone at one point. While the woman “stopped answering him for a while,” Liam continued to bug her and “messaged me on an iCloud account, a few different phone numbers as well as a Snapchat [account].” One of those messages Liam allegedly sent said:
“Send me f**king and sucking vids. Did I ever send you ones of Maya? ?? or any of my exes?”
WTF.
Because of all this, Henry’s attorneys threatened to take “criminal action” or file civil lawsuits against Liam should he “defame, threaten, harass or intimidate” her or her family further. They also noted Maya would seek punitive damages for an unspecified amount. Damn! She was not messing around! Understandably so! What he allegedly tried to do is NOT OK! Her lawyers then said Liam and his team had 10 business days to reply to the letter, acknowledging that he would cease and desist “from taking any actions that may relate directly or indirectly to the dissemination, communication or transfer of the alleged images.”
It is unknown if the One Direction alum or his team ever responded. Liam passed away on October 16 — before the deadline. But we learned that in the days prior to his death, Liam was “extremely overwhelmed” by the legal drama with Maya. Now we know the full extent of why.
