We just previously mentioned that Lindsey Vonn, Olympic skiing gold medalist, went down hard in a ski crash.
She was competing at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championship Super-G race in Schladming, Austria today when she crashed real hard.
She was coming around a fast turn and lost her balance while landing a jump.
Her right ski popped off and she tumbled over, then slid down the slope until eventually stopping.
The U.S. Ski Team Medical Director said she fractured her shinbone and tore her ACL and MCL ligaments in her right knee.
Jeez! That must’ve been sooooo painful we can’t even imagine.
The U.S. Ski Team said in a statement:
“She will be out for the remainder of this season but is expected to return to racing for the 2013-14 Audi FIS World Cup season and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.”
It’s so awful that she got hurt but at least she’ll be back at it soon!
We just hope she’s recovering well and didn’t freak out too much about literally being airlifted off the slopes.
After smashing our knee to nothing, the last thing we’d want to do is swing from a helicopter but at least they got her to the hospital.
Now begins her long road to recovery. We wish her nothing but the best!!
