Move over, Pottermore! The Hunger Games is coming to getcha.
Lionsgate has really amped up their viral campaign for the upcoming movie as they’ve launched a new site where fans can register to be placed in their appropriate “district.”
Based on events on the popular game, fans will follow the trials of main character Katniss Everdeen, who, like in the book, is selected from 12 districts, along with other teenage boys and girls, to fight to the death.
Director Gary Ross spoke about it, saying:
“That├óΓé¼Γäós one of the fun things about it. There are times when you├óΓé¼Γäóre viscerally inside [Jennifer Lawrence‘s] shoes, and that├óΓé¼Γäós the main experience. And there are other times when you├óΓé¼Γäóre witnessing her the way they├óΓé¼Γäóre witnessing her in the Game├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and she├óΓé¼Γäós constantly being watched, which is one of the things that makes the book so compelling. But it├óΓé¼Γäós mainly an intense first-person experience, inside Katniss├óΓé¼Γäó shoes.”
The new site will feature a countdown to the games, a breakdown of the districts, and the opportunity for visitors to get their own District Identification Pass (DIP).
So cool!! And hopefully the site won’t have that pesky long wait period to get our “confirmation emails,” like a certain website that we’ve all been dying to get into!
