It was a hard journey, but totally worth it — Jen Arnold‘s cancer is now in remission!
She had MONTHS of weekly chemo fighting the rare cancer, and we’re so happy to report that she’s gotten the best news ever!
Here’s what The Little Couple star said:
“I had my official last chemo treatment. And while I’m hesitant to say I’m cancer-free ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ maybe that’s common for people who have had cancer ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ I’m doing great. Everything is moving in the right direction. I am very excited.”
We’re SO excited for her too!
Not only was she in a crazy fight for her life, but she also had newly adopted daughter Zoey, 2, and son Will, to help raise.
She’s such a badass:
“It actually got harder as more time went on. Some weeks were more difficult than others with different side effects. I had a lot of fatigue and nausea and some days it just felt like my hands and feet were very heavy.”
But she MADE IT THROUGH!
The cancer she had was stage 3 choriocarcinoma, a rare cancer that occurred after a failed pregnancy. The mass was removed from her uterus, but then she developed pneumonia.
Then, her chemotherapy dosage levels had to be tweaked because of her size, something that took some time to get right. That chemo was going after the tumors in her lungs.
She’s not out of the woods yet — about 85% of people who come out of remission do so in the first 18 weeks of being cancer free. She will have to be monitored for quite some time, but as life goes on, the testing will become fewer and fewer.
Jen finished:
“Bill knows when I’m not doing well and he takes such good care of me. That was huge. That and enjoying watching my children play was a huge uplifting part of my treatment. With kids running around, you don’t have much time to feel sorry for yourself.”
“Sometimes I get a little winded when I walk around more and I have that fuzzy chemo brain at times, but I am very excited and happy to be where I am right now. I want to get stuff done. I am anxious to get back to my normal self.”
