The London Olympics Are Inspired By... Frankenstein??

Danny Boyle Frankenstein
Danny Boyle can basically do whatever genre he wants and it’ll work.
He’s the mind behind 28 Days Later and Slumdog Millionaire!
Interestingly enough, he’s been tapped as the creative director for the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, and he’s borrowed some ideas from a very interesting place…
Mary Shelley‘s Frankenstein!
Here’s what he said:

“It’s a challenge, of course, because it can easily be just a cold spectacle├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥awe-inspiring but not necessarily of the heart├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥and we want the ceremony to have a visceral effect on people, for it to be a collective experience. Stirring emotion is hard in a stadium. [There is] quite a lot of Frankenstein in the show. I mean, we don’t reanimate dead creatures, but we did use Frankenstein as a dry run for a lot of ideas for this.”

Apparently he wants the venue to look, “more like a cauldron, with all the people hovering over and around you.”
Awesome!
If there’s anyone we trust for this, it’s Danny Boyle.
Now if only he’d get back to editing Trance so we could see it!
