Turning seventeen is a major moment in a young girl’s life! So we’d expect Lorde to throw herself one helluva party!
But it sounds like our little Kiwi spent her special day alone!

Lorde posted on her blog about what she did on her birthday. The night before, she apparently played a private show for some unnamed celebs in New York! She wrote:
“last night, i played to a room of people whose names i worship, breathe like fine gold smoke, reverent. there is a lot of stupid shit that comes with being lucky enough to do what i do – a lot of stuff i├óΓé¼Γäód rather skip, if i could – but i wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót have traded last night for anything. i felt so warm in the arms of these legends who are good enough to have faith in me, weird little screwball that i am. i realize over and over every day just how lucky i am to be here.├óΓé¼┬¥
Oh what we would give to be a fly on the wall in that room! We wonder who the lucky audience was??
On the day of her actual BDay, Lorde decided to bundle up and walk around the city while listening to Edge of Seventeen by Stevie Nicks!
How appropriate!
She told her fans:
“i├óΓé¼Γäóm going to wrap up warm and walk around the city listening to stevie nicks and broken social scene, feeling all seventeen, hugging myself against the cold. if you see me, and i├óΓé¼Γäóm whispering to myself all crazy, don├óΓé¼Γäót worry. it├óΓé¼Γäós just a happy mantra of thanks for the way things are.”
And get this: Lorde’s little brother Angelo was born on the same day as his big sis! The pop star made sure to give him a birthday shout out as well, writing:
“my little brother, who was born on the same day as me, turns twelve today. happy birthday, angelo. i owe you lots of icebreaker sours.├óΓé¼┬¥
Aw! We’re sure Angelo would have loved to have been there in New York with you, walking around and jamming out to some Stevie!
