Lorde Is Smarter Than You! What She Was Already Doing At 14 PLUS Hear Her Pre-Teen Cover Of Kings Of Leon!

What were you up to when you were 14-years-old??
We’re going to guess probably not proofreading a 40,000 word manuscript! But then again, you’re not Lorde!
Growing up with an award-winning poet for a mother, Lorde’s upbringing has centered around the written word. So much so that her mum trusted her then 14-year-old daughter to edit her master’s thesis for her! Proud parent Sonja explained:

“Ella’s a better writer than I’ll ever be. A couple of years ago, I wrote a thesis for my master’s, and I asked Ella to proofread it ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ 40,000 words. She did an incredible job. And she was 14.”

That is cah-razy impressive, but certainly not shocking! Only two years later, Lorde’s lyrics are now breathing new life into pop music, not to mention burning up the charts.
Her new found fame has kept her out of high school the past year and she’s still not sure if she’ll even graduate. But when you’ve got the gift that Lorde’s got, maybe a classroom education really isn’t necessary.
Lorde spoke about her high school days, saying:

“I don’t know how school’s going to go. I read and write so much anyway, I don’t feel I’m particularly missing out.”

We’re not suggesting she drop out altogether but she does make a solid argument: school will always be there. But she can’t let this moment pass her by!
Since being discovered during a middle-school talent show, Lorde has been waiting to let the world hear what she has to say, and has been working hard to get to where she is now.
Her hard work is finally paying off in a VERY big way. But as Royal-ly beloved as she’s become, Lorde still manages to stay humble. She remembered back to when her music career was just getting off the ground, saying:

“I’ve always had a low voice, but you can find a couple of shitty covers on YouTube from when I was 12 or whatever, and my voice is quite nasal. Strange tonally. I got to strip all that stuff back and kind of rebuild the machinery, take a lot of twang out of my sound.”

We found one of those covers and all we can say is, Lorde couldn’t be more wrong!
