In a recent interview, Lorde dished on how she cold-called on the ever “private” rapper Kanye West (who happens to be her “idol”) to remix her song Yellow Flicker Beat:
“I’m the worst person ever at talking to people I don’t know on the phone — I can’t even order pizza. I would put off calling him. I’d say, it’s 12:57, I’ll do it at 1.”
We’re glad they ended up collaborating and eventually built the track together in a Malibu studio.
Lorde also dished about being the the curator for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack:
“At first they were like, ‘You can just do an EP.’…I’d really wanted to A&R a record. And I basically got to do that…I knew this was right for me as an artist and I felt it would be cool for my career. People that see me as having a couple of hits and performing on an awards show would see that, between records, I’d committed to a pretty serious body of work.”
We don’t know what we’re excited for more…Mockoingjay Part 1, or its soundtrack!
