Little Lorde is growing up almost as fast as she’s becoming famous!
The girl wonder from down under is turning 17 today and to mark the Royal occasion, we’ve dug up some of her most memorable quotes from the past year!
Lorde may only be a teenager but she speaks her mind like someone who’s been around for ages! She’s got an opinion and she’s never too shy to share it!
And quite frankly, we love her for it!
Lorde took a lot of heat after calling out Selena Gomez for making music that’s anti-feminist:
“I love pop music on a sonic level. But I├óΓé¼Γäóm a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, ├óΓé¼╦£When you├óΓé¼Γäóre ready come and get it from me.├óΓé¼Γäó I├óΓé¼Γäóm sick of women being portrayed this way.”
Then she shared some thoughts on Taylor Swift being too perfect:
“Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls. I’m never going to be like Taylor Swift.”
She apologized afterwards, saying:
├óΓé¼┼ôI am very, very new to this whole thing. I will probably never be the kind of role model for my fans that [Taylor] is for hers. I admire her very much for this reason. Basically, this is an apology for not thinking too hard before I speak.”
Lorde’s star is rising fast but she said she├óΓé¼Γäóll never end up like Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse:
“Six months ago, no-one knew who I was and now fans chase my car. But I’m never going to change or let fame get the better of me. I’ll never go off the rails like Britney or do an Amy – because my upbringing was so normal.├óΓé¼┬¥
Nor will she ever twerk like Miley Cyrus:

She’s not exactly a fan of Justin Bieber:

But she does relate to Kanye West:

She even wanted to touch Kanye’s grill:

She threw a diss at all of the Disney stars:
“The difference between those kids and me is that I grew up completely normally and went to parties and had that experience. I am way less inclined to be like, ‘Look! I’m fucking mental!├óΓé¼Γäó├óΓé¼┬¥
And gave some MAJOR shade to David Guetta after he wanted to collaborate with her:
“No! F*ck no! He’s so gross!”
She does want to write songs for Rihanna and Ellie Goulding though:
“Rihanna would be fun to write for because she’s done everything. And I’d love to write for ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ or with ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ Ellie Goulding, actually.”
And she’d rather have Beyoncé as a mom than Kim Kardashian:

This year’s VMAs performances had Lorde making some AH-Mazing predictions:
“There are a lot of shock tactics these days. People trying to outdo each other, which will probably culminate in two people f*cking onstage at the Grammys. I try to keep blinkers on and focus on making music.”
And she had some bittersweet excitement after hitting #1 on iTunes:
“#1 on US itunes. even if it lasts an hour i feel HAPPY. downside is all these miley fans telling me they’re gonna stab my rotting corpse.├óΓé¼┬¥
