Man Arrested & Charged For Allegedly Supplying Mac Miller With Fentanyl-Laced Drugs

Mac Miller's drug dealer arrested.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection to the death of Mac Miller.

According to The Wrap, police allege Cameron James Pettit supplied the late rapper with deadly, fentanyl-laced pills that directly contributed to his fatal overdose a year ago

The criminal complaint filed in the Central District of California claims the 28-year-old was one of three people who supplied the Swimming performer with counterfeit drugs in the days leading up to his death.

Per the legal docs, Ariana Grande’s ex asked Pettit for “percs” — aka Percocet, a prescription painkiller containing oxycodone. Officials say the Hollywood Hills man gave Miller the counterfeit pills two days before his death, and they allegedly contained fentanyl, cocaine, and Xanax.

The docs claim authorities also found a plastic bag containing pills while investigating the 26-year-old’s death, which investigators say were supplied by a prostitute and a madam. As of now, it’s unclear if anyone else has been charged in connection to the case.

Pettit was cuffed Wednesday morning by special agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Fusion Task Force, and has been charged with drug trafficking. He’s expected to make his initial appearance Wednesday afternoon in United States District Court in downtown El Lay.

Prosecutors say Pettit commented on Miller’s death shortly afterward on Instagram, telling friends he probably shouldn’t post a reaction to the news “just to be smart.” When a friend asked how he was doing in the wake of Miller’s passing, the man allegedly wrote:

“I am not great … Most likely I will die in jail.”

Well, not exactly. If convicted, Pettit faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

As we reported, Mac was found unresponsive in his Studio City home in September 2018. His death was eventually ruled as an accidental overdose from alcohol, cocaine, and fentanyl. The star’s loved ones were gut-wrenched over the news; but not everyone was surprised, unfortunately.

Earlier this summer, Grande — who dated Mac from 2016 to 2018 — opened up a bit about the rapper’s substance abuse problems, which the singer previously cited as the reason she pulled the plug on their relationship.

Speaking to Vogue, the pop star lamented:

“People don’t see any of the real stuff that happens, so they are loud about what they think happened. They didn’t see the years of work and fighting and trying, or the love and exhaustion… you have no idea how many times I warned him that [an overdose] would happen and fought that fight, for how many years of our friendship, of our relationship… By no means was what we had perfect, but, like, f**k. He was the best person ever, and he didn’t deserve the demons he had.”

This arrest likely won’t do much to ease the heartache of Mac’s family and fans, but we guess it’s a start.
