John Mayer, Travis Scott, & More Stars Celebrate Mac Miller's Life At Emotional Tribute Concert In LA

R.I.P., Mac Miller, you are surely missed.
Famous friends and family of the late rapper, born Malcolm James McCormick, gathered at the Greek Theatre on Wednesday night in Los Angeles for an emotional tribute following his suspected drug overdose on September 7.

John Mayer, Travis ScottChance the Rapper, and more headlined the show, performing covers of Mac’s most famous songs, along with a couple of their own.
Heartwarming home videos of a young Malcolm and pre-taped messages from stars like Jason Sudeikis, Lil Wayne, and Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino were also played for the crowd between sets. One star noticeably absent from the night in every way was Ariana Grande — who famously dated the late rapper back in 2016 for two years.
The former couple’s split was no doubt a bit messy, but this was surprising considering the two collaborated many times over the course of their relationship and Grande was reportedly the most supportive of Mac’s sobriety. Was it still too soon to mention Ari, who fresh off of her called-off engagement, might’ve been a sore spot for the crowd? Highly probable…

But let’s get back to the show…
Before singing Miller’s hit Small Worlds, an emotional Mayer told the mixed crowd of fans:

“I saw Mac play this at Hotel Cafe a couple months ago, and he got onstage and he said he was really nervous. And now, Mac, I’m really nervous. So we got that in common too. This one’s for you.”

The night continued with performances by Action Bronson, Anderson.Paak, Miguel, SZA, Ty Dolla $ign, Vince Staples, and more. At the end, Miller’s parents, Karen and Mark McCormick, joined all of the acts on stage for one last tribute to their beloved son.
Kylie Jenner‘s baby daddy had this message for fans before later closing out the show, too:

“No matter if you mad at somebody, the next day check on them.”
