In the November issue of GQ, Mad Men‘s January Jones recounts her tale to the top!
The former Abercrombie and Fitch model ditched her agency in New York to make it as an actor in El Lay, a common story which almost never pans out!
She definitely had some skeptics, including her former boyfriend, Ashton Kutcher!
“[He] was not supportive of my acting,” said Jones. “He was like, I don’t think you’re going to be good at this. So ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ f— you! He only has nice things to say now ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can’t do something, that’s when I’m most motivated.”
We bet he’s sorry!!
But, she’s also quite the inspiration!
“I felt like, God, I’m miserable. I hate modeling,” she continued. “When I moved back to New York, the agency said I owed them $20,000. So I left the agency and then ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ very quickly ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ decided to go to L.A. and try acting. Without any training.”
And now, a Golden Globe-nomination and a hit series!
As much as we usually gag on stories about former models struggling to do something with greater meaning, we love her!
