Only a week after Madonna was able to have the Malawian gay couple freed from prison after there were arrested for essentially being homosexual, Steven Monjeza has left Tiwonge Chimbalanga… for a woman!
Steven told the press that he was tired of the hostility he was facing not only from his community, but directly from his family and no longer wished to be associated with homosexuality for that reason. He released a statement, saying:
“I have had enough. I was forced into the whole drama and I regret the whole episode. I want to live a normal life … not a life where I would be watched by everyone, booed and teased.”
Steven has now started a relationship with 24-year-old girl from Blantyre. As for Tiwonge, he is standing true to who he is and suggests that Steven is with a female lover just “to hurt” him. He explained:
“But I am not worried. You cannot force love, and nobody forced him when we did our symbolic wedding in December…I will also marry because there are lots of good men around. I will remain a gay.”
Good for you!
But DAMN, after all that, after Madge had to step in to save your asses from prison, to see it all end like this…just doesn’t seem right.
