Those who care for the 13-year-old reality TV sensation right now — namely her 19-year-old sister Pumpkin (AKA Lauryn) — have moved HBB’s money into a different bank account in order to protect it from Mama June Shannon and her suspicious boyfriend, Geno Doak.

According to TMZ, Lauryn — who is acting as Honey Boo Boo’s guardian of sorts right now — will have access to the funds in order to purchase things for HBB’s “needs and benefit,” but there are safeguards in place to ensure that she must account for every dollar spent. An attorney has stepped in to help move the money and put up the new guidelines, done in a bid to ensure that HBB receives all of her money earned when she’s an adult, rather than lose it through no fault of her own.
Mama June, who has been reportedly taking casino trips with Doak, and who was recently arrested alongside him for crack cocaine possession, can not touch any of the money in the new account. Family sources tell the outlet they are concerned about Mama June and Geno misspending the money at casinos, or on drugs, and they wanted to get the funds away from the woman as quickly as possible.
Having Pumpkin oversee the assets right now seems like a significantly better and safer plan, with Honey Boo Boo’s best interest in mind. As it stands now, Pumpkin must produce documentation and receipts for everything purchased with Honey Boo Boo’s funds — and there must be a reason behind every purchase, and only for it to be done with HBB’s benefits directly in mind. To think of the risk of Mama June and Geno spending that money on goodness knows what… Ugh.

Still, even though her money may be protected and her future somewhat set, at least in that regard, there’s no question that Honey Boo Boo must be hurting now to be away from her beloved mom for so long. Here’s hoping Mama June can get clean, get things back on track, and get to the point where she can once again see and have a relationship with her daughter!!
